Bong Joon-ho (Septemba 14, 1969), ni muongoza filamu maarufu aliezaliwa huko Daegu, Korea Kusini. Bong ni mtoto wa Bong Sang-gyun, profesa wa sanaa za viwandani, na Park So-young. Bong na familia yake walihama Seoul alipokuwa na umri wa miaka 10. Bong alisoma katika Chuo Kikuu cha Yonsei ambapo alihitimu na shahada ya sanaa za kijamii mwaka 1995. Wakati wa masomo yake, alijiunga na klabu ya filamu ambayo ilimsaidia kukuza mapenzi yake kwa sinema. Baada ya kuhitimu, alijiunga na Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA), ambapo alijifunza na kutengeneza filamu fupi kadhaa.

Bong Joon-ho (2013)

Filamu yake ya kwanza, "Barking Dogs Never Bite" (2000), haikufanikiwa sana kifedha, lakini ilimpatia umaarufu kama mtayarishaji filamu mwenye kipaji. Ilikuwa ni filamu yake ya pili, "Memories of Murder" (2003), ilyomletea sifa kubwa kimataifa. Filamu hii ilijikita katika mauaji ya mfululizo yaliyotokea Korea Kusini na ilipongezwa kwa mchanganyiko wake wa vichekesho na uhalifu.

Filamu ya "The Host" (2006) ilithibitisha uwezo wa Bong katika kuunganisha aina tofauti za sinema. Mafanikio yaliendela na "Mother" (2009), filamu inayohusu mama anayejitahidi kuthibitisha kuwa mwanawe hana hatia ya mauaji. Filamu hii ilipongezwa kwa uandishi wake na uigizaji mzuri.

Bong alitengeneza filamu yake ya kwanza ya Kimataifa, "Snowpiercer" 2013, iliyoigizwa na Chris Evans na Tilda Swinton. Filamu hii ilipata umaarufu mkubwa na kukubalika kimataifa. Hata hivyo, ilikuwa ni "Parasite" (2019) iliyoleta mapinduzi makubwa katika kazi yake. Filamu hii ilishinda Palme d'Or katika Tamasha la Filamu la Cannes na Tuzo ya Academy ya Picha Bora, ikimfanya Bong kuwa msanii wa kwanza kutoka Korea Kusini kushinda tuzo hiyo.

Bong ameendelea kuwa na ushawishi mkubwa katika tasnia ya filamu, akijulikana kwa mtindo wake wa kipekee wa kusimulia hadithi, na uwezo wa kuunganisha ucheshi na uhalisia wa kijamii.
