Hello Neno. Welcome to Wikipedia. In reply to your post on the mailing list, there are two ways the text in the menus and options can be changed. The easiest way is to edit the MediaWiki namespace. This is a collection of templates that can be edited by an administrator and will take immediate effect on the site. There is a list of them at Special:Allmessages.

The other way is to create a language.php file. One has been started at meta:LanguageSw.php but I'd recommend you check out a more recent one to start from since some things have changed since them. You could base it one which is complete such as LanguageDe.php which you can get from SourceForge.

The Language.php file lets you change everything you can change with the MediaWiki namespace, and some additional options such as the namespace titles, names of the special pages, month and days-of-the-week names and some of the preferences options. Any changes in the MediaWiki namespace overwrite those in the Language.php file. You can also ask a developer to make these changes without having to fill in the php file by asking at non-development tasks for developers.

To edit the MediaWiki namespace, you need to be an administrator. You can request to be one at meta:requests for permissions, but since you've only made five edits, it seems a little soon to be doing that. This wiki does have one admin (Marcos) but he has been absent since the start of August. I'd suggest you familiarize yourself with wiki editing a bit more and get some experience before asking for adminship just to be sure you understand how the namespaces work.

More about translating the interface

Hi. You can use the language.php one, but that includes a lot of uneccesary parts that aren't needed in every translations. You might find it easier to choose one of the other languages.

The corrections you make won't show up until a developer uploads the file to CVS. Adding it as a patch to MediaZilla: is probably the quickest way to get it uploaded.

When I said about getting experience with the other namespaces, I meant ones like the Wikipedia or template namespaces, which are not protected. However, I do understand your concern that you can't get experience with the MediaWiki namespace. I've actually made you an admin now, although I'm converned it's a bit early so please be careful not to edit any MediaWiki pages you don't understand. Some can cause the site to stop working!

Welcome to sw, I don't speak Swahili regretfully, and visit here to make interlang links between other projects. There are some confusions on interlang links for example between Daktari and other languages' articles (there are two sorts of articles on the others; medical doctor and doctral degree), I wish you would fix and order the links on the page, then I will be help to order the links on other Wikipedias to Swahili ... but obviously it's time for you to configure the site itself :) I wish sw goes well with your effort. Hello Kipala. Now that you are back, I would like to draw your attention to something which I find difficult to explain in Swahili. Have you noticed that since a while the lines that separate the sections of the articles are visible inside the taxoboxes? This is not the case in other Wikipedias. Can this be fixed?
