Dear Riccardo, thanks so much for reaching out and writing to me. I am trying to work with multiple volunteers, professional translators and wikipedians in order to make available in African languages the 10 most relevant articles about Covid-19 to spark creative solutions to the pandemic. To get a better sense of what we are trying to do, you can see the meta page we've had created through our collaboration with the Yoruba user group (Nigeria). I have 2 more translations to upload for Swahili. I'll share the links as soon as they're done for your awareness and moderation. Thanks so much, and please note our intention is to ensure accessibility to, and spread, knowledge.Best,--Papa Baiden (majadiliano) 17:19, 1 Julai 2020 (UTC)Reply
Dear Riccardo, please see here the next two translations we've had prepared on the topic of Covid-19: 1) Hand washing article 2) Face Masks during covid19 article. I hope these both are acceptable, and that the community can accept and improve them. thanks and best regards.--Papa Baiden (majadiliano) 05:29, 2 Julai 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi Papa Baiden, thanks for your effort. Kindly consider to spend a bit of time in reviewing first existing content related to your topics. I just had a look at the barakoa article. I doubt its usefulness with this complicated title. We have a short article barakoa ya kinga which has respectable viewnumbers for our wikipedia and which can be expanded. The Swahili in your entry is in places not clear, which often is the problem when a translator tries to cling closey to text, thought- and sentence structure of a foreign language. An unnecessary problem is the way references were handled: the numbers in the text were left out so that the translation of footnotes was unfortunately completely useless. Hi Kipala, please accept my apologies for the article state. I can go back to work on the references in the hope this helps. This article being 'absorbed' as an expansion to the pre-existing article may not be such a bad outcome in the end. To avoid the same situation in future, I will share with you here the remaining 2 articles our volunteers have translated in Google docs. In the light that our volunteers have become less responsive, and are not Wikipedians, is the community be willing to receive these translations and take what can be useful for existing articles? I don't have the capacity with the Swahili language to do a due diligence of this depth, although I know for both article there is an existing page (between project conception and publishing to Wiki, many pages emerged!). here are the articles: Social Distancing and Covid-19 simplified main page.
