JUX

Born Juma Musa Mkambala in 1989, Juma Jux has had an illustrious career as a rapper and now one of the best R&B singers in East Africa. Since his musical debut in 2005, he has managed to dominate the scene with one hit after another. Jux is consistently building his fashion line, African Boy, and music brand, with his very first album, The Love Album.

The Love Album has some collaborations from top artists like Nyashinski from Kenya, Singah from Nigeria, Diamond Platnumz, Ruby, Q chief, Gnako, Joh Makini, Tommy Flavour, and Vanessa Mdee, all from Tanzania.

Initially starting out as a rapper, Jux released his first jam “Nimedata” in 2010 before making a switch to R&B. Three years later, he teamed up with Cyril Kamikaze and Gigga Flow to form a music group - Wakacha - which dropped a number of hits such as “Facebook Gal”, “Here We Go” and “Mimi na Wewe”. Since taking on a solo career, Jux has since collaborated with some of Tanzania’s greatest artists among them Joh Makini, Vanessa Mdee, Ben Pol, G Nako, Barakah Da Prince, and Navy Kenzo. Renowned for his impressive vocals, his musical success has earned him awards and several nominations, including Best East African Music Video at the Zanzibar International Film Festival (2017), with “Umenikamata” plus being nominated twice in a row for the AFRIMMA awards for Best Male artist in East Africa.

With chart-topping songs like “Utaniua”, “Zaidi”, “Wivu” and “Juu” featuring Vanessa Mdee under his belt, Tanzanian sensation Juma Jux is an R&B star with impeccable style and sound. In 2015, he bagged an award for Best R&B song at Kili Music Awards (Tanzania). For many years, Jux has been balancing a career in music and business as the CEO and Founder of renowned fashion brand: African Boy. During this time, Jux was also pursuing his studies in China. He asserts that he owes his career to his fan base, as they never gave up on him. 2018 has been a defining year for him and the first that he has concentrated fully on music. He made his debut on Coke Studio Africa 2019 paired with Mozambican songstress Shellsy Baronet and produced by Lizer (Tanzania).

Jux is also known for doing sold out events, one in particular was the Love and Money Tour that he partnered with Vanessa Mdee. Jux had sold out Stadiums in 5 regions in Tanzania; Mwanza, Mtwara, Dodoma, Arusha and Daresalaam, which was covered live on TV. They later took the tour to Burundi, where they sold out at Stadiums as well.

Business is also a passion that he strongly believes in. Being the CEO and Founder of the number one clothing line in East Africa, African Boy, Jux recently launched his new collection of African boy designs, in a show dubbed, ‘A taste of Jux’. In the launch, he also incorporated his very first album listening party, and The African Boy runway. The event was classy, and in attendance were the who’s who in Tanzania, including Ambassadors and Government officials.
