Hello, Jon Harald Søby. Welcom to the Swahili Wikipedia. Feel free to create some stubs articles as how you did on the President of Nauru. Vi er velkomne ditt bidrag.--Muddyb MwanaharakatiLonga 14:48, 7 Oktoba 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! I am studying Swahili in Trondheim, and have just learned enough Swahili to write simple sentences. I don't think I will create too many stubs before my Swahili improves, because I imagine it must be a bit boring to have to correct and fik my articles all the time... ;-) But when my Swahili improves, I will become more active! Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 15:48, 7 Oktoba 2009 (UTC)
Hahaha! It would be so lovely if you stay, though your Swahili are not good enough! By the way, you can use google translate for a small sentence. It is not pretty good at grammar, but if you put small sentences it is okay. Even me, I some times use google translate for small things. Remember that, do not use it as your guide 'cause can't help you more. Yours,--Muddyb MwanaharakatiLonga 06:29, 8 Oktoba 2009 (UTC)
I usually use the Kamusi Project; it is very useful to be told what classes words are (which Google Translate doesn't), it makes it much easier to write correct sentences. I think I will write more here the following weeks – my exam in Swahili is on December 10, and writing articles in Swahili is excellent practice! That's cool, brother! Ukimaliza mtihani wako, basi tuna-kukaribisha hapa muda wote! Karibu sana.--Muddyb MwanaharakatiLonga 05:30, 12 Novemba 2009 (UTC)
Asante sana! :-) Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 11:24, 12 Novemba 2009 (UTC)

Kiswahili Wikipedia ChallengeEdit

Hi Jon! Did you see this? Google Kiswahili Wikipedia Challenge, sponsored by Google. Contest open only to residents of Kenya and Tanzania. --LA2 (majadiliano) 21:02, 12 Novemba 2009 (UTC)

Hej, I just left you a message on another wiki... fancy finding you here! We are looking for someone familiar with wiki standards more than kiswahili itself to round out the jury, as a matter of fact. If you're interested, please let me know. Sj (majadiliano) 23:40, 8 Desemba 2009 (UTC)
Ah yeah, I saw that message, but don't remember where, so I couldn't reply, lol. I wasn't in Paris though, but I don't blame you for the confusion, as there are so many faces. I was in BA though. :)
I talked with Chris on the phone today, and will start judging now. My Swahili level is still pretty low though, so I'm not too confident in judging what is good and bad Swahili (though English words remaining untranslated is a pretty good clue), but I will try my best. Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 20:38, 13 Desemba 2009 (UTC)

I have a Ladino bible at home, written in Hebrew, which is a pleasure to read... it's as though I started reading hiragana and Swedish came out! Sj (majadiliano) 23:40, 8 Desemba 2009 (UTC)

Hehehe, it's weird. Ladino looks so different (because of the script), but when you hear it or read a transcribed version a lot of it is comprehensible (just as with Yiddish). Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 20:39, 13 Desemba 2009 (UTC)

Kiswahili Wikipedia ChallengeEdit

I'm taking part in kwc and you just awarded me points for the articles I translated (my username is Xelawafs). Thanks for your comments. Could you give me any pointers on areas I can improve on to get more points say around 1.5 - 2.5.

Your botEdit

Hello, Jon Herald! Would you please read this talks?--MwanaharakatiLonga 05:42, 17 Mei 2010 (UTC)

Hi! I'm sorry about running without a flag; I applied for a global bot flag, which would also apply here, but it is taking a little longer than I expected. If you want I will stop using it until I get it. But do note that I check all the changes in Recent changes (not just the ones by my bot), so I don't think there will be a problem of vandalism coming through. Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 14:17, 17 Mei 2010 (UTC)
Sure :) I'll certainly wait for its approval! Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 15:59, 17 Mei 2010 (UTC)
Nice. :) I am basing it on sw.wiki, so that many articles in other languages get links to Swahili articles; for example if someone creates an article here and adds a link to the English Wikipedia but doesn't make a link to the Swahili Wikipedia from the English Wikipedia, that link wouldn't be "discovered" by bots unless they are based here, so that's why I base my bot on sw.wiki right now. I think it is very important to improve sw.wiki's visibility in other languages. Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 16:50, 17 Mei 2010 (UTC)
That's awesome. So, you mean the bot will provide all broken link and those are not linked towards Swahili Wikipedia? If so, then it would be so lovely. It's adorable in fact. At least we got someone who base his bot into the Swahili Wikipedia! I can't watch the progress every time, but I will try my best to watch it out. Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 17:15, 17 Mei 2010 (UTC)
Yes, articles in en.Wikipedia which don't link to sw.Wikipedia will get links, and from there it will eventually spread to all other articles. So I think it is very important. :-) Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 17:42, 17 Mei 2010 (UTC)
That is really great. I have noticed that new articles are getting their interwikis so soon after publishing, sometimes within minutes. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 16:28, 19 Mei 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I was running a script with a parameter that checks all new articles. I will probably do that once a week, and that should cover most articles I think. :-) Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 17:44, 19 Mei 2010 (UTC)

Hi, JHS, don't worry, that is what I normally do. Can't remember which article it was that didn't have an interwiki, though I think it was yesterday or the day before. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 16:24, 19 Mei 2010 (UTC)

Ok, good. I just remember seeing one that didn't have one, but that was probably the exception. :-) Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 16:25, 19 Mei 2010 (UTC)
I think so. BTW, if you ever have any puzzling issue with zh or ja, I can help. JLMK. --Mr Accountable (majadiliano) 16:36, 19 Mei 2010 (UTC)
That's nice, thanks for the offer. :-) Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 17:45, 19 Mei 2010 (UTC)

Orodha ya Mawaziri Wakuu wa NorweiEdit

Habari, Jon Harald Søby! Congratulation my friend. The above mentioned article is really fascinating! You've created it pretty well. Slowly you'll gain a lot of things. Hope this just a beginning. Thanks for the contents. Cheers.--MwanaharakatiLonga 17:35, 8 Juni 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! :-)
Yes, I want to write articles on many things, like the counties and municipalities of Norway, and many things related to Queen.
By the way, should I translate the names of the political parties in the list of prime ministers? Some Wikipedias do that and some don't... I'm not really sure what to do. Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 18:39, 8 Juni 2010 (UTC)
I bet you will. As for changing the party name - that one it ain't necessary I think.--MwanaharakatiLonga 08:39, 9 Juni 2010 (UTC)

Hi! What you are doing in the categories can be fixed much easier by doing this. Now the template uses the pagename (instead of parameter 1) when there is no parameter 2. Jon Harald Søby (majadiliano) 17:03, 17 Juni 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I thought there'd probably be a simpler way but sometimes, I just crave some boring old number-crunching work. Oh, well, I'll look for something else similarly mind-numbing and boring ;-) But thanks nevertheless! --Baba Tabita (majadiliano) 17:10, 17 Juni 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Jon. Thanks for the barn-star. Though I'm not contributing more often as many as I used to. Thank you again!--MwanaharakatiLonga 15:25, 16 Novemba 2010 (UTC)

Karibu tenaEdit

Karibu tena kwetu! Kipala (majadiliano) 09:33, 24 Aprili 2019 (UTC)

@Kipala: Asante, kaka!
Nina swali moja.
--Riccardo Riccioni (majadiliano) 11:40, 24 Aprili 2019 (UTC)
