Hilarioni wa Gaza
Hilarioni wa Gaza (Gaza, Palestina, 291 – Pafo, Kupro, 371) alikuwa mkaapweke aliyetumia sehemu kubwa ya maisha yake jangwani kufuatana na mfano wa Antoni Mkuu.
Tangu kale anaheshimiwa na Wakatoliki na Waorthodoksi kama mtakatifu.
Maisha
haririHilarioni alizaliwa na Wapagani huko Thabatha, kusini kwa Gaza, (Palestina).
Baada ya kusoma utaalamu wa kutoa hotuba huko Aleksandria.[3] Inaonekana huko aliongokea Ukristo akaachana na anasa na tamasha akashiriki sana ibada.
Aliposikia habari za Antoni, zilizovuma kote Misri, Hilarioni, akiwa na umri wa miaka kumi na tano, alikwenda kuishi naye jangwani kwa miezi miwili. Kwa kuwa makao ya Antoni yalitembelewa sana na wageni waliohitaji kuombewa, Hilarioni alirudi nyumbani na wamonaki kadhaa.
Huko Thabatha alikuta wazazi wake wameshakufa, hivyo aligawa urithi wake kwa ndugu na mafukara, akaondoka kwenda upwekeni sehemu mbalimbali[4], akiwa na vichache na kufunga vikali hasa aliposhawishwa kufanya uasherati.[5] Ndiyo maana alikonda sana, mbali ya kwamba toka mwanzo alikuwa na afya mbovu. Alipata riziki zake kwa kutengeneza makapu.[5]
Hilarioni alipatwa na majaribu mengi[6], yakiwemo ukavu wa kiroho na kishawishi cha kukata tamaa.[7]
Alipozidi kutembelewa alijitafutia mahali pa mbali zaidi: kwanza Misri, halafu Sicily, Dalmatia na hatimaye Cyprus alipofariki mwaka 371.
