Richard wa Chichester
Richard wa Chichester (1197 - Dover, 3 Aprili 1253) alikuwa askofu wa Uingereza ambaye alipigania adhimisho la ekaristi lifanyike kwa heshima, sakramenti zitolewe bure kwa waamini na makasisi washike vema useja kwa ajili ya ufalme wa mbinguni.

haririAkiwa na umri wa miaka 38 akarudi Oxford, alipochaguliwa mara awe gombera wa chuo kikuu, lakini mwaka 1237 mwalimu wake wa zamani Rich, kisha kuchaguliwa Askofu mkuu wa Canterbury, alimtaka awe katibu mkuu wa jimbo lake; katika kazi hiyo alijitokeza katika jitihada za kurekebisha mwenendo wa mapadri na kupinga uvamizi wa serikali katika mamlaka ya Kanisa.
Padri
haririAliposhuhudia kifo cha askofu wake huko Soissy, Ufaransa, mwaka 1240, na kuachiwa kikombe cha Misa kama urithi, aliamua kuingia upadri akaenda kusomea teolojia miaka miwili kwa Wadominiko wa Orléans.
Baada ya kupadirishwa mwaka 1242 akiwa na miaka 45, akarudi Uingereza na kufanya kazi ya paroko Charing na Deal (mkoa wa Kent), lakini akarejeshwa mapema katika ukatibu mkuu.
Askofu
haririMwaka 1244 alichaguliwa na maaskofu kuongoza jimbo la Chichester, lakini mfalme Henry II alimtaka Richard Passelewe, hivyo akazuia mali na mapato ya jimbo.
Papa Inosenti IV alipoombwa usuluhisho alimtibithisha na kumweka wakfu mwaka 1245 huko Lyons.
Askofu mpya aliporudi Chichester, alilazimika kuishi kifukara katika nyumba ya paroko wa Tarring (Sussex), akifanya kazi za mikono na kutembelea jimbo lote kwa miguu. Miaka miwili baadaye mfalme Henry III alilazimishwa na Papa kulirudishia jimbo mali zote.
